Our Trip to Piano City in Shawlands. By Sufyaan and Alisha

Yesterday, we went on a trip to Shawlands to visit Tom in Piano City. We went to the bus stop and we waited for number 90.  After the bus, we walked for 10 minutes to get to the Arcade. In the shop, we got to play the Piano. It was so much fun!

Yusuf played twinkle twinkle  little star and we sang with him. There was Tom, Grace, Alistair and Grainne.

Alistair tuned a piano for us and Grainne played Caledonia while we sang it, Grace also joined in. She is a lovely singer.

Before we left, we got to sign the back of a piano to show we had been in the shop. Tom said that one day it might get to go on display in another museum with our names on it, and everyone else who has visited the shop. How exciting!

We got to take some piano keys home with us to help us with our project. It was such a beautiful day when we left, we were so happy we got to walk for some of our journey.

Social Enterprise visit from Tom. By Safa and Hanna

Last Friday, Tom came to our class. He works for the Piano Project.Tom brought a piano into the class room. He played some tunes for us. He carefully took some of the piano pieces off.

He taught us how the strings hit the hammer and makes noise. Miss Mc Namee played Caladonia and we sang it. Tom played Frère Jacques and some other songs without looking at the piano.

Miss Mc Namee  said we can decorate the piano with paint. We did some researching for things we can make out of instruments.  Yusuf Rafiq also played Frère Jacques without looking. Tom told us that he was playing the piano since he was three years old until forty eight years. We will visit Tom again to the piano project shop.

Digital Learning Week – Trip to the Tramway. By YOUSAF S and Yusuf R

16.5.18

AS YOU KNOW  IT IS DIGTAL LEARNING WEEK!!

We went to the TRAMWAY and we saw a freaky statue in the Digital exhibition. During the exhibition, the statue was speaking slowly. It looked like it was hypnotising us but for me it was making me crazy and scared. In the film, the background to the statue was changing and moving because of the movie they had made on the laptop. The sound travelled all around the room manipulating the class into thinking that the statue was moving.

We seen an technician who showed us how to work all of the equipment in the exhibition. There was surround sound speakers, a laptop with programmes for adding voice clips, a projector and a statue that was made with a 3D printer.

After that, we went outside to speak to Holly so she could answer any questions we had about the exhibition and the job of a technician.

Then we had lunch in the beautiful sunshine!

Our Trip to Kelburn by Zara and Chantel

Wednesday 9th of May  was the day we went on our trip to Kelburn. It took us 45 minutes to get there on the bus.  It was very noisy and poor Arisha  was sick.

Then we  arrived at Kelburn . After we went to the castle, we went to the screct forest. It was fun! We played  in 2 parks and it was very  fun. It was muddy , slippery and rainy.  We found a tunnel that led us to the other side of the Secret Forest then we found three tunnels.

Then we went to have lunch and we found a pirate ship, it was fun. We could climb high then we went to have a Nature trail test. We found out stuff about bees, it was weird.

Then we went to the gift shop. Lots of people got slim, unicorns and after that we went on the bus to go home. We had an amazing, fantastic, marvellous time!

Story Telling UMAR AND ZAYAN

Ben was taking us outside and we made a campfire. He told a story about a boy and a granny. The granny was killing birds and collecting berries she made pie for her grandson, he asked her “why are you not eating” he asked and she said” I will eat after” she said. The next day the granny was killing birds and collecting berries, and she made pie for her grandson , and the grandson said “why are you not eating”,  then the granny said “I will eat later” she said.So the boy went to bed and made a little hole and peeked through the hole. Then the  granny picked up the rock and got the bowl, spoon, knife and chestnut. The whole class told their own story about something they found.  Zayan  told a story about a stick. Umar told one about a piece of grass. We played games outside like what do you see that is part of nature,  hide and seek and tig.

Building tents by Maryam and Fatima

We went outside with Mrs Rooney and got things for the tent then we went on the pitch and made our tent. We did girls VS boys. At first, the girls didn’t want to work together but then  Maryam and Fatimah said to join them together  so we joined up and it turns out the girls won and got 5 dojo reward points. It was good  but we did get  mud on our hands. We won because we discussed plans and I listened to all the great plans. Hana thought of putting something heavy on the low part but  we put a stick on it but it nearly worked but when we put it down, it kept wobbling and falling. So then we tried to figure out another way. We tied it to the tree and that helped it stay up.

We had magnificent fun!

Literacy circle team work (By Jalal, Ameer and Ahmed)

Our group are working on a book called  THE LEGEND OF SPUD MURPHY.

Our jobs were Discussion Director, Reteller  ,Character Captain, Word Finder ,Artful Artist And Story Connecter.

We have read chapter 1-2 of the LEGEND OF SPUD MURPHY book and discussed it.

Then we talked, about giving each other things to write on the bottom of the paper

We told our answers to each other and we copied them down if they were our job.

We found out new words and what they meant.

Welcome Back! (Homework time)

Welcome Back to school everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and hopefully you were all eased back into school last week.

As part of your homework this week, I would like you to leave a comment on the blog about a book you have read recently. Have a think about the following when you write your recommendation:

What did you like about it?

What were the characters like?
