College Recruitment update 20th April 2020

City Of Glasgow College

Still open for applications. They will look at the application and if the young person meets the criteria, they will be given a place. This be continue until the courses are full. Waiting lists will then be started.

 

Glasgow Kelvin College

Still open for applications. Glasgow Kelvin opened their recruitment process early this year and have managed to fill most of their courses already. There are still some places left and young people can still apply, waiting list are available for course which are currently full.

 

Glasgow Clyde College

Still open for applications. They will try to select young people based on their application showing that the yp meets the essential criteria, some faculties may ask to interview young people by telephone.

 

Modern Apprenticeships:

 

Glasgow Guarantee:

Glasgow Guarantee is operating at reduced capacity due to the COVID 19 shutdown but there are still Modern Apprentice vacancies available to apply for including City Building, Early Years and Business Administration.  A number of these vacancies will be open until May but there are no interview dates set at the moment.

If you are leaving school and looking for a job or Modern Apprentice, start the registration process at glasgowguarantee.org now and get your application in before the closing dates.

There are no new vacancies being advertised and it is likely that this will continue to be the case during the COVID 19 period but candidates who apply for vacancies will be kept updated by email and their account will also be updated.

Skills Development Scotland is here to support your pupils  no matter what stage you’re at in your career pathway , whether you are still at school, about to leave or looking for employment or training.  SDS are  still here to help, either online or over the phone.

SDS offer a free impartial all age careers service offering:-

  • Advice on the routes into careers including jobs, apprenticeships, training and learning
  • Help with CVs, application forms and interviews (including telephone interviews)
  • Insight into the local labour market
  • Support for parents and carers –
  • Redundancy support for any parent

Our SDS Careers advisers work with our young people in group sessions, from P7-S1 transition onwards and the individually from S2 onwards. Our young people can make an appointment if they feel they need further support, parents and carers are welcome to attend these interviews in school. Access to our Careers Advisers can be arranged through our Principal Teachers of Pastoral Care.

Our pupils have access to My World of Work, the Skills Development Scotland online service that offers the latest personalised career information and advice. There’s lots of information on there to support parents and carers.
