Music Tuition is available to both Primary and Secondary pupils on the following instruments:

• Accordion
• Bagpipes & Chanter*
• Clarsach*
• Drums (Pipe Band Drumming and Drum Kit)*
• Fiddle
• Violin

* = council-funded tuition

Due to the number of pupils in the school, there is a limit on the number of council-funded instrumental tutors who can visit the school. There is no charge for this tuition, and there are a limited number of spaces available every year.

However, due to very high demand for instrumental tuition in the school, the Music and Drama Parent Subgroup organise for freelance tutors to teach in the school. These tutors have a contract with each family and there is a charge for this tuition. The Music and Drama Parent Subgroup fundraise to provide financial assistance for tuition to families who are in receipt of certain benefits.

Pupils joining the school through placing requests from other local authorities will only be able to continue with music tuition during school hours on one of the instruments listed above. Although other instruments are offered by other Glasgow City Council schools, we are currently unable to increase our number of council-funded instrumental tutors, as is tied to the pupil roll.
