Ceol ‘s Craic

SGG were asked to perform as part of the Ceol ‘s Craic concert at the CCA. The Busking Fiddlers, Craicte Leis and Orcastra SGG performed a wide range of music, including highlights from Gruth is Uachdar.

After the interval, former SGG pupils Joseph and Shauna collaborated with Alistair MacDonald, creating an exciting new performance of three Gaelic songs. Next, there was a short set from Catriona McKay and Chris Stout, who then provided music for an experimental piece by The Snyver Project, which combined visual art, sculpture, dance and music.

Ms Chaimbeul introduced the acts, and told us that the word from backstage was that the other performers were blown away by how talented our pupils are. This may become an annual event, so watch this space!

Orcastra SGG and Drama S1/2 present a new performance, inspired by the music from Gruth Is Uachdar (Crowdie and Cream), by Donald Shaw and Charlie McKerron, from the BBC Television series.

The performance has been created in collaboration with Theatre Gu Leor and promises to be an exciting and engaging event, involving around 120 of our young people.

Gruth Is Uachdar will be performed on the 18th and 19th of June at 7pm, in Sgoil Ghaidhlig Ghlaschu. Tickets are available from the school or on the door. Adults £3, others free.

Bun-sgoil Sponsored Musathon

Pupils from Bun-sgoil Ghaidhlig Ghlaschu held a Sponsored Musathon to raise money for a new piano. 35 pupils played 45 minutes of continuous music – math dha-rìribh!

BBC Music at the Quay Workshop

16 pupils from S1-S4 attended a full day of workshops at the BBC Studios at Pacific Quay, as part of the BBC Music at the Quay festival.

The day started off with a Radio Production workshop, where our pupils became Presenters, Producers and Engineers. The Presenters got to work writing a script, while the Producers researched the songs and the Engineers learned how to record the presenters, insert stings and idents, and mix the songs using Traktor.

You can listen to each team’s programme, and find out about the live Q&A and MaKey MaKey workshop, after the jump:
