Curriculum

Children will be given a solid foundation in number and literacy skills whilst being equipped to deal with the demands of a modern society with skills in ICT. Great emphasis is placed on being a responsible citizen, having respect for others and our environment.

In all curricular areas considerable importance is assigned to teaching within a variety of contexts and this is often achieved by working on ‘projects’ or ‘themes’ which can help to make learning meaningful and relevant to the world outside school.

There is an enterprising approach to teaching and learning in Sandaig. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, to take risks and make decisions.

Every child has his or her own individual needs.

We do our best to satisfy these needs by tailoring the work to the pupil.  Each pupil is encouraged to do his or her best and continually strive to improve on this.  We encourage pupils and staff to have high, but attainable expectations of each other.  In Sandaig we celebrate each individual child’s achievements.
