I do hope you can join with us and support your children at as many as possible\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Choir<\/strong><br \/>\nThe choir have been practicing very hard with Mr Doherty during lunch times and now have a full set of Christmas carols and songs to perform. Dates for performances are:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 7th December \u2013 Forge Shopping Centre 11.30-12.30 and 1-2pm (at the Primark end)<br \/>\n\u2022 9th December \u2013 Glasgow Fort \u2013 2.30-4pm (near to Next)<br \/>\n\u2022 17th December \u2013 St Rollox Tesco 11-12pm<br \/>\n\u2022 18th December \u2013 At school service \u2013 9.45am<br \/>\n\u2022 21st December \u2013 The Forge Asda \u2013 1.30-2.30pm<\/p>\n<p>It would be great if you could come along and see the pupils sing for a short time in order to show your support.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Outings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the moment, we have booked 2 pantomimes.<\/p>\n<p>Primary 5-7 will be going to see Sleeping Betty at the Tron Theatre on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> December. Pupils will be leaving school at 9.30am and will return around 1pm. <strong>Pupils must bring a packed lunch to school that day which they will eat when they return to school. <\/strong>They should also bring a small snack to take with them to the theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Primary 1-4 will be going to see Puss \u2018n\u2019 Boots at Platform theatre on the 11<sup>th<\/sup> December. Buses will be leaving school at 12.15pm and return before 3pm. Pupils will be able to have a school dinner that day at the earlier time of 11.45am and should take a small snack with them to the theatre.<\/p>\n<p>We have arranged a house trip to see Inside Out at the Quay cinema. This will take place on the 15<sup>th<\/sup> December, but at present, I do not know which house will be going. If your child is in the winning house you will receive notification prior to this date. Pupils will be leaving school at 9.10am and will be back in time for lunch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Lunch<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christmas Lunch will take place on the 9<sup>th<\/sup> December. There will be turkey, steak pie and a vegetarian option, as well as a starter and ice cream for dessert. Pupils will have crackers and we hope this will be a lovely celebration for the pupils.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Fayre<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parent council, again this year, are working hard at organising for the Christmas Fayre on the 10<sup>th<\/sup> December 1.30pm. They have been preparing for a number of weeks now and they need your help by way of donations. They are looking for items that they can put into a raffle, items for the tombola, donations of sweets, homebaking etc. Pupils have also been working hard at making gifts and decorations to sell. I do hope you can come and support on the day, and also hand in donations to a member of the parent council, or at the school office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Parties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary 5-7 party \u2013 16<sup>th<\/sup> December 1.15-2.55pm<\/p>\n<p>Primary 3-4 party \u2013 16<sup>th<\/sup> December 1.15-2.55pm<\/p>\n<p>Primary 1-2 party 18<sup>th<\/sup> December 1.15-2.55pm<\/p>\n<p>All parties will take place in school after lunch time. If you wish to come in and change your child into party clothes a room will be set aside for you from 12.45pm. If you wish to take your child home to change then you must make arrangements with office staff and also come directly to the office to pick them up. This is to ensure rigorous security measures are in place for all pupils. Please do speak to us if any special arrangements need to be made as we want the pupils to enjoy their parties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Service<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christmas Service will be on 18<sup>th<\/sup> December at 9.45am. Pupils in Primary 1 and 7\/6 will be performing the nativity \u2018It\u2019s a Baby\u2019. All pupils are practicing very hard at the moment, and I hope you can come and support all their efforts. All families welcome to attend. The service will be followed by tea and coffee with mince pies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christmas Jumper Day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On December 21<sup>st<\/sup> we will be having Christmas jumper day. If your child wishes to wear their Christmas jumper they pay \u00a31 and this money will be donated to charity in connection with our donations to Maryhill Food bank this year. We hope to support people at Christmas time who are not as fortunate as ourselves. I do hope you will support this by allowing your child to take part.<\/p>\n<p><strong>School holidays<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>School will close at <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">2.30pm on the 22<sup>nd<\/sup> December 2015<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>School will re-open at <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">9am on the 6<sup>th<\/sup> January 2016<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>A very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year from all at<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Royston Primary School<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are a number of important outings and events happening over the coming weeks.
