Computing club creations

In a change to what the computing club were supposed to be doing on Friday everyone decided they wanted to make a leaving gift for Mr Kelly to say goodbye and wish him all the best in his new job. So in the best way they know how came up with some fab digital art and animations.

Enjoy.

Takeaway Pi

We have just embarked on a small pilot to allow some children from the computer clubs to take a raspberry pi home for a month. This is to allow them to get some quality time to try out programming and see what they can do with the pi when they have some more time to try things out.  At club we only get an hour a week so this is a great opportunity for the children.

They were given everything to take home apart from the monitor and some resources to get them started.

We look forward to seeing how they get on and will get them to feedback to us so that we can then run the scheme again.

Last week of clubs for the term

Sadly this week is the last week of clubs for the term. We have had loads of fun and have been working really hard in all of our clubs learnng new things.

In Scratch we made animations about Scotland and some of us even got to add our voices on to the project to make it more interesting.

In Kodu we have been working on our game making skills because after the Easter break we are going to be making our games to enter into the KoduKup competition.

Finally our Friday computing club have been learning magic this term while also learning about computing at the same time. We have loved doing these magic tricks and it was great getting to show the whole school at assembly what we had been learning. We are looking forward to next term already and what it may bring us.

Club update

We have been very busy over the past couple of weeks. In Scratch club we are now ready to add in some voice overs to our Scottish animation that we have been working on we look forward to sharing them soon.

In Kodu club we have been perfecting our game making skills this is because after Easter we are going to be entering into a competition called the KoduKup and we are going to have to design our own game. Last year we were lucky enough to get one team through to the final and we hope we can repeat this again this year.

Fridays are still magic in our club we are continually learning about computing without computers and it has been great fun. We now know 3 tricks that we confidently perform and we understand how they relate to computing.
