Rosshall Records is a club that pretty much lets students be creative. Members on this blog site write articles about topics that interest them and publish them for others to see. You become part of a team and have total creative freedom.
Why be a member?
I love writing about topics that I’m interested in. It feels amazing when you finish writing something and find that others are genuinely interested in reading what you have to say. But, when I look around in our schools social place, there’s usually just a sea of phones. People text, go on Instagram or play games. When I first joined this club two years ago, I became a part of a team writing for a pupil magazine and I loved every part of the process. I guess, I just want other students to experience the same thing as me, become part of a team, be creative and get rewarded with this feeling of pride and accomplishment when other people read your work. This is why I believe in this club and why I am still a member.
It’s hard to be creative in this reality we live in. Every day (when not in a national lockdown!), we wear uniform for school that promotes uniformity not originality.
To anyone reading this who is thinking about joining the club:
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
― Sylvia Plath
‘The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.’ You can read, you can write, so all you need is to find a topic that you are passionate about. That’s all you need for this club.
Somewhere on this webpage there is a sign up form. Fill it out. Even if you don’t think it’s a club for you, just try it out. You never know how you feel about something until you try it.
If the sign up form doesn’t work, email Miss Rowbottom (gw18rowbottomrachael@glow.sch.uk) with a subject of ‘Magazine Club’ and a email content of ‘Hi Miss Rowbottom, I would like to join Magazine Club’. Or find her in school and let her know!
