What a busy and exciting week we have had in class! We have been learning across lots of different subjects and have had plenty of opportunities to work together, be creative and develop new skills.<\/p>\n
\ud83e\uddee Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n In Maths, we have been working hard on addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division. We have also been learning about angles and practising how to identify and work with them.<\/p>\n \ud83c\udfc0 PE<\/strong><\/p>\n In PE, we have been developing our basketball skills. We practised defending, keeping possession of the ball, as well as working together as a team.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udcda Reading – Divided City<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We have been enjoying reading our class novel, Divided City<\/em>. We have been discussing the characters, events and important themes in the story.<\/p>\n Our reading has connected really well with our Breaking Barriers topic, as we have been thinking about prejudice, sectarianism, friendship and how people from different backgrounds can come together.<\/p>\n \ud83e\udd1d Breaking Barriers<\/strong><\/p>\n As part of our Breaking Barriers topic, we have been learning about prejudice and sectarianism. We have been thinking about how unfair attitudes and behaviours can affect people and why it is important to challenge prejudice. We have also been discussing how we can create a welcoming classroom and community where everyone is treated fairly and with respect.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udc9a Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n In Health and Wellbeing, our focus has been on respect. We have explored what respect looks and sounds like and how we can show respect to the people around us.<\/p>\n \u2721\ufe0f Judaism<\/strong><\/p>\n In RME, we have been learning about Judaism. We found out about Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, and Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which was celebrated last week. We enjoyed learning about the traditions and customs connected with these important occasions.<\/p>\n \ud83d\ude80 STEM<\/strong><\/p>\n STEM has been one of the highlights of our week. In the Creative Enquiry room, we designed and made our own boats and marble runs. This helped us develop our problem-solving, teamwork and creative-thinking skills.<\/p>\n \u270d\ufe0f Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n We have also been getting ready for our next piece of writing. We planned our writing and thought carefully about our ideas, vocabulary and how we could organise our work.<\/p>\n It has been a fantastic week filled with learning, creativity, teamwork and new challenges.
