This week has been full of new beginnings, exciting opportunities, and lots of teamwork as we explored new topics across our learning. Here are some of the highlights and key learning points from our activities:<\/p>\n
We stayed active in PE by continuing to play rounders, helping us build teamwork, coordination, and confidence in game situations.<\/p>\n
In literacy, we began new spelling words and started new reading books. We also created reading journals to help us record our thoughts and understanding. We were introduced to The Iron Man<\/em> by Ted Hughes, which we explored further through reading, drama, and writing activities. We used this to inspire scenario writing and develop our creativity.<\/p>\n In maths, we started learning about coordinates and grid references. We practised locating points and used fun activities like Battleships and iPad games to build our confidence. We continued this learning throughout the week, including coordinate colouring tasks.<\/p>\n We also continued our French learning through World Cup-themed activities, helping us practise vocabulary and communication skills in an engaging way.<\/p>\n In STEM, we continued working on a new football product pitch, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving as we developed our ideas.<\/p>\n We took part in PATHS learning about authority, helping us understand respect, rules, and making positive choices.<\/p>\n Some of our class began supporting younger pupils through class caring in the infant classes, showing responsibility and leadership. We also had the opportunity to represent our school during a rights visit, demonstrating confidence and pride in our school community. Additionally, we welcomed new P1 parents and introduced ourselves, showing excellent communication skills.<\/p>\n We continued developing our writing through persuasive writing assessments, focusing on using strong arguments and clear structure.<\/p>\n In reading, we completed comprehension activities and worked in reading groups to deepen our understanding of texts.<\/p>\n We also enjoyed creative learning through drama based on The Iron Man<\/em>, helping us bring the story to life and explore characters and events in a different way.<\/p>\n To finish the week, we attended an assembly about diabetes and Scotland in the World Cup, completed our spelling test, and shared our thoughts through Floorbook activities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As we come to the end of our P6 journey, we wanted to share some of our thoughts, advice, and memories:<\/p>\n To the new P6 class \u2013 P6 can be challenging at times, but keep trying and always do your best.
