This week has been full of exciting learning opportunities, teamwork, and creativity as we continued to challenge ourselves across different subjects. Here are some of the highlights and key learning points from our activities:<\/p>\n
We stayed active in PE by playing rounders and continuing our Commonwealth Games practice. We took part in javelin, shot put, and hurdles, helping us develop coordination, balance, strength, and teamwork skills.<\/p>\n
Our reading skills were a big focus this week. We began creating a new reading journal in our jotters using before reading strategies to help us make predictions and prepare for our texts. As the week continued, we used during reading strategies to think more deeply about what we were reading and finished with after reading strategies to reflect on and summarise our learning.<\/p>\n
In maths, we began learning about speed, distance, and time. We practiced using formulas and solving problems to help us understand how these measurements are connected in real-life situations.<\/p>\n
We also developed our persuasive writing skills by writing a piece to persuade Mr Milligan to let us choose where we sit in class. This helped us use strong arguments, persuasive language, and clear explanations to support our opinions.<\/p>\n
As part of our Commonwealth learning, we researched the properties of athletes\u2019 shoes used in different sports. We explored how design features can improve performance and safety. We then designed our own athletes\u2019 shoes, thinking carefully about the key characteristics needed for a chosen sport. At the end of the week, we presented our finished designs and explained why they would be effective.<\/p>\n
We also continued working on reading comprehension through our reading groups, answering questions to improve our understanding and thinking skills.<\/p>\n
To finish the week, we completed our spelling test and reflected on all the hard work and creativity we had shown throughout the week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
