Beatson Santa Dash 2025 – Help Us Reach Our Target

Two years ago, our school community came together to raise funds for the Beatson Cancer Charity. Cancer impacts countless lives in different ways, and the Beatson continues to make an incredible difference through its compassionate care and unwavering support.

The Beatson Cancer Charity works alongside the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre – one of the leading cancer care facilities in the UK – providing vital funding for specialist staff, innovative research, and improved patient wellbeing. From emotional support and complementary therapies to cutting-edge treatments and clinical excellence, the charity ensures that patients and their families receive the best possible care at every stage of their journey.

We are proud to continue supporting the Beatson and the life-changing work they do for so many across Scotland.

This year, some of our amazing staff will be taking part in the Glasgow Santa Dash 2025 with Beatson Cancer Charity on Sunday the 7th December at Glasgow Green. Please help us to raise our fundraising target by donating to our Just Giving fundraising page. Click on the link below to access –

What we have been doing in P3/2

This week we have been doing lots of learning in and outside the classroom.

We started our new IDL unit on STEM this week. On Tuesday we went outside to the playground and collected lots of natural materials, for example, leaves. pinecones and sticks. We then drew pictures of these and they are now on our art wall. The leaves we collected are now in our playroom where we can explore adjectives to describe the different textures. In our playroom we also have a station where we can make a paper aeroplane to see how far it can travel. We then have two more stations where we can design our own rocket or our own t-shirt using recycled fabric.

We continued to look at 2D and 3D shape this week and completed shape bingo. We all think that we can name lots of shapes and we feel up for a challenge. If our adults at home want to test us over the next week we would really enjoy that.

We also painted this week, continuing our learning on feelings and corresponding a feeling to a colour.

In numeracy we have been continuing our learning on place value, and completed stations where we had to build, sort, or shade the correct amount of tens and ones to show a number.

Finally in literacy we have been working on recount writing and have been completing reading responses as well. We have all been making good progress in our writing and we are excited to see what we will achieve in the next few months.

Thank you very much for reading, enjoy the weekend!

This week!

We have had a very fun and exciting week in primary 3/2.

In writing we have been looking at a new topic called recount writing. We started our week recounting the events of the weekend in a short story in our jotters. We then used our superhero topic to do some writing for our specials trays.

In maths and numeracy we have continued our topics of shapes and place value. We have looked at part whole models to partition 2 digit, or even 3 digit,  numbers. With Mrs McDonald we did a rotation where we played games based on shapes.

In science we have been looking at different fabrics and materials. We used Mr McColls old T-shirts to design our very own superhero cape. We learnt about three types of fabrics; wool, cotton and lycra.

In PE, we have continued to learn about how we can use our hands and feet effectively.

We are excited for next Thursday for you to see our classroom and what we have been learning about.

Another week in P3/2

This week we have had another busy week learning lots of new and exciting things.

In writing we have been looking at describing words – adjectives – to write character descriptions of superhero’s. We were also very excited to receive another letter from captain skyfire! He set us a new challenge which we completed successfully. We also read a book about a girl called Tilda, who never gives up! We then wrote about her feelings.

In maths, we have continued to look at 2D and 3D shapes with Mrs McDonald. In numeracy, this week we have also been doing addition calculations, adding numbers up to 20, up to 30 or even up to 100. With Ms Jardine, we looked at skip counting in 2s!

In PE, we are looking to develop our hands and feet skills. We completed an obstacle relay race focusing on how we can use our hands and feet together! We also did a shapes game with Ms McDonald.

This week we have also been looking at our cutting skills and seeing if we can improve our technique when using scissors to cut out paper. We were set a challenge to cut up our superhero and be able to glue it back together!

This week we have had a focus on being kind to one another, both inside and outside the classroom. We

Welcome to P3/2

This week in Primary 3/2, we have been very busy with our Snapshot Jotters. We have been learning about character descriptions and linking them to our IDL topic of Superheroes. We also did some writing in Health and Wellbeing, focusing on what makes a good friend and what makes us happy.

In Maths and Numeracy, we’ve been focusing on place value, looking closely at tens and ones. We have also been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We looked at the months of the year and wrote about our favourite one. We’ve continued to practise skip counting in twos.

In RME, we read the story Jesus Feeds the 5000. We then explored how it might have felt to witness such a miracle.

In French, we learned the names of nine different fruits. Working together, we figured out which fruit was which, and then drew a picture of each one.

Finally, we revisited the targets we set last week for the term ahead. We’ve already started to take steps in the right direction to achieve them!

We hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about our week!
