P2/1 Weekly Update

Our classroom has been buzzing this week with Superhero energy! We’ve been practising kindness and helpfulness, and celebrated these super actions by creating our own Supertato characters. This helped us explore what it means to be a kind and caring friend.

In music, we’ve been exploring beat and rhythm. One highlight was marching along to different songs — including the lively Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride from Lilo & Stitch! It was wonderful to see everyone moving and grooving in time with the music.

In literacy, we learned two new sounds: ‘p’ and ‘n’. Our confidence is growing when reading and recognising our initial sounds.

In numeracy, we focused on numbers up to 10. We used concrete materials to count and practised the formation of numbers too.

Welcome to P2/1

Over the past few weeks, our Primary 2 and 1 pupils have done an amazing job settling into our daily routines.

In the classroom, the children have been busy learning about numbers from 0-10 and 2d shape. We are also beginning to learn initial sounds and are becoming increasingly confident when recognising, reading and writing them.

We are focusing on movement during P.E to increase our spatial awareness.
Please ensure your child has appropriate indoor shoes for these lessons.

We also had a fantastic visit from the M&M Theatre Group, who treated the children to a magical performance of Alice in Wonderland. The show was a lovely experience for all.

Homework will be issued next week, so please keep an eye out for it in your child’s bag.
