We have been learning all about the National Health Service (NHS) and why it is so important. We talked about the different people who work for the NHS and how they help us.

Through role play, we explored what a health centre is like. We became doctors, nurses and dentists and practised how to help patients, especially in an emergency. We learned how important it is to listen carefully, be kind and act quickly to help people feel better.

We are enjoying learning about our bodies and how to keep them healthy and safe.

In Maths, we were learning about weighing. We used scales to weigh different objects and learned how to tell if something is heavy or light. We enjoyed comparing items and predicting which would be heavier before checking on the scales. This helped us develop our measuring skills and use mathematical language confidently.

In Literacy, we continued to describe different settings and linked this to our IDL topic. We described what a doctor’s surgery is like and explained why we might go there. We thought carefully about what we might see, hear and feel in a health centre. Some of us described the waiting room, the reception desk and the treatment rooms. We are becoming more confident at adding detail to make our writing interesting.

What a fantastic week of learning in P2/1! We are so proud of how everyone is working hard, using their imagination and building important skills every day. 🌈✨
