What a fantastic week we have had in P1B! The children have been working hard, trying new things and showing growing confidence across all areas of their learning. It has been wonderful to see so many children becoming more independent and proud of their achievements.<\/p>\n
This week, we have been learning the new sounds \u2018e\u2019<\/strong> and \u2018d\u2019<\/strong>. The children have enjoyed practising how to say the sounds correctly, recognising them when they see them and beginning to use them when reading and writing simple words.<\/p>\n We are also becoming increasingly confident when reading. The children are beginning to recognise familiar words and are developing their understanding that the letters and sounds we learn can help us to read new words. We have particularly enjoyed talking about and recognising some of our favourite characters in stories and books, discussing what they look like, what they do and why we like them.<\/p>\n In numeracy, we have been learning about number bonds to 10. The children have been exploring different ways that numbers can be combined to make 10 and are becoming increasingly confident when recalling some number bonds.<\/p>\n We have also been practising counting on using a number line. It has been fantastic to see the children becoming more confident when starting with a number and counting forwards to find the answer.<\/p>\n We are continuing to develop our mathematical skills by:<\/p>\n Counting forwards and backwards.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Recognising and ordering numbers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n Matching numbers to quantities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Our play-based learning continues to provide lots of opportunities for the children to develop their communication, creativity, independence and problem-solving skills. We are encouraging the children to work together, share resources, take turns and explain their ideas to their friends.<\/p>\n This week we focused on children becoming more independent when choosing activities, tidying up, managing their belongings and looking after our classroom environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" What a fantastic week we have had in P1B!
