We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and fun-filled holiday weekend! It\u2019s been wonderful to see Primary 1a return to school full of energy, enthusiasm, and ready to learn.<\/p>\n

This week, we\u2019ve been continuing with our exciting Journeys<\/em> topic by exploring the story \u201cWe\u2019re Going on a Bear Hunt.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

We took our learning outdoors<\/em> and stepped straight into the pages of a storybook!<\/p>\n

Armed with our imaginations (and a good dose of courage), we went on our very own bear hunt<\/em> around the school grounds. From swishy-swashy grass to squelchy-squerchy mud, we explored it all, retracing the exciting steps from the beloved story.<\/p>\n

We tiptoed through the playground, crept past the trees, and peeked into all the secret corners of our outdoor space\u2026 and guess what? We even think we saw a bear!<\/em> \ud83d\udc40<\/p>\n

There was a rustle\u2026 a shuffle\u2026 and a shadow that looked very<\/em> suspicious. Was it really a bear? We\u2019re not quite sure \u2013 but we ran all the way back just in case!<\/p>\n

It was a brilliant mix of storytelling, movement, and imagination \u2013 and we loved every minute of it. Outdoor learning helps bring stories to life, we weren\u2019t just reading a book\u2026 we were living<\/em> it.<\/p>\n

The children have really enjoyed diving into the adventure, and have been busy creating story maps to help us retell the tale in our own words. We\u2019ve also been bringing the story to life through yoga, which has been a fantastic way to combine movement and imagination!<\/p>\n

In the classroom and for homework, we\u2019ve started our very first reading books \u2013 an exciting milestone! We\u2019ve been introducing punctuation by looking at capital letters, finger spaces and full stops as we read. The children have also been spotting repeated patterns in the text and identifying familiar sounds we\u2019ve been working on in class.<\/p>\n

Please continue to practise the sounds that have been sent home to support your child\u2019s reading and writing development. A few minutes of practice each day can make a big difference!<\/p>\n

In maths, we\u2019ve been having fun with 3D shapes, copying and creating patterns. We\u2019ve also been working hard on forming our numbers correctly \u2013 great focus, Primary 1a!<\/p>\n
