During these sessions we are continuing to work on their decoding and fluency skills. Some children are focusing on finding specific information, making inferences and answering different styles of questions about their texts. In talking and listening, are going to have a focus on presentation skills this term and will be encouraging the children to have a go at speaking in front of the class more often using a clear voice. We will also be leading an assembly this term.

This term our focus in writing is to write persuasively. We will be looking for the writing to use convincing language and give reasons for their opinions. We will be doing this through a few outcomes including posters and tv advert style scripts. We will also get creative and design some ‘products’ that we will need to ‘sell,’ through our adverts.

In Numeracy we are going to look at fractions and early division concepts. We will talk about sharing objects equally between groups. Some children will look at the division sign, and how they can link what they learnt in multiplication in term 3 to division facts. We will also cover data handling and 3D shapes.

We will start the term looking at Earth Day and how we can play our part to look after the environment. We will also be learning about the Commonwealth Games due to be held in Glasgow this summer. Within this, we will explore the effects of exercise on the human body, look at some of the countries taking part and the sports involved.

PE Days

Our P.E days this term will be Monday and Tuesday. Please come to school dressed for P.E and wearing no jewellery and please bring a jacket for outdoor learning and P.E on the pitch.

Please ensure children have sensible shoes on every day. No crocs or other shoes that are not securely attached to their foot.

Websites

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/5-7-years/counting

https://play.sumdog.com/

Primary 3/2 with Mrs Soutter Summary of Learning Term 4 Welcome back, I hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter Break!
