Term 3<\/p>\n

Summary of Learning<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This term\u00a0Primary 1’s<\/span> will be building on the great start the children made with their sounds and continue the Jolly Phonics programme. The children will be learning to blend and segment ( c-a-t \u2026 cat) and common words to start their reading journey. We\u202fwill be learning about various traditional tales, songs and games, to develop their reading skills such as the concepts of print, predicting, visualising and more. In Writing, the children will be learning to use their knowledge of sounds to have a go at writing CVC words as well as common words to build short sentences. We will also focus on telling stories through pictures and puppets with a Scottish theme this term.<\/span><\/p>\n

Primary 2 pupils will be focusing on spelling rules, sounding out unfamiliar words, and expanding their vocabulary through daily writing and reading activities. In writing, they will focus on description writing using adjectives and different sentence openers. They will also focus on story map’s and creating their own Storymaps based around Scottish stories.<\/p>\n

In numeracy,P1’s are working on number recognition of number 11-20 as well as adding\/subtracting to 20 whilst P2’s will be working on numbers past 50. P1 children will continue to use the part part whole and simple addition whilst P2’s focus on independent addition and subtraction to 100. All the children will have the opportunity to explore number actively in the classroom and the street area. We are also using SeeSaw and\u00a0 SumDog as a home learning link for Numeracy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This term\u2019s topic is Scotland<\/strong>, and the children will be learning to retell these classic stories using story maps, role play, and puppets. Through these activities, they will develop their understanding of Scots language and traditions,<\/p>\n

PE Days<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please remove any jewellery and remember appropriate clothing, jackets and footwear especially for outdoor play on Thursday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
