Term 4<\/p>\n

Summary of Learning<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This term\u00a0Primary 1’s<\/span> will be continuing to blend and segment ( c-a-t \u2026 cat) and focus more on basic reading skills as they move into P2. We\u202fwill be working with our P7 buddies to create fact files each week and hopefully we\u00a0 can present these to other classes. In writing, the children will be continuing to focus on short sentences using their prior knowledge of common words and punctuation. We will also focus on fictions and non fictions texts in the classroom and continue to visit Elder Park Library for the children to choose their own books.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Primary 2 pupils will be focusing on spelling rules, sounding out unfamiliar words, and expanding their vocabulary through daily writing and reading activities. In writing, they will focus on explanation writing and different sentence openers. They will also focus creating fact files about different sports with the help of their P7 buddy.<\/p>\n

In numeracy,P1’s are working on number recognition of numbers to 30 as well as adding\/subtracting to 20 and some basic mulitplication whilst P2’s will be working on numbers past 50.\u00a0 P2’s will focus on independent addition and subtraction to 100 and multiplication facts and strategies . All the children will be taking part in data handling activities as well as money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this class, we will explore the topic of the Commonwealth Games<\/strong>. We\u2019ll learn about a variety of sports featured in the event, discover the meaning behind the Commonwealth mascot, and examine the different types of medals awarded and what they represent<\/p>\n

PE Days<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PE days are Friday and Thursday. Please remove any jewellery and remember appropriate clothing, jackets and footwear especially for outdoor play on Thursday.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
