We will\u00a0learn how to\u00a0answer and\u00a0ask relevant questions. We will also be sharing our opinions\u00a0and\u00a0experiences in relation to\u00a0our\u00a0writing,\u00a0our\u00a0topic\u00a0and books,\u00a0focusing on contributing to discussions\u00a0appropriately and using positive body language.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Reading\u00a0\u2013\u00a0We\u00a0will begin\u00a0our\u00a0reading sessions.\u00a0We will continue to practise\u00a0common words\u00a0through flashcards and games.\u00a0As we read\u00a0aloud,\u00a0we will work on improving our fluency and expression.\u00a0We will develop our\u00a0oral reading\u00a0comprehension skills by answering questions about a text.\u00a0In phonics\u00a0we\u00a0will be blending and segmenting\u00a0cvc\u00a0words using their knowledge of\u00a0initial\u00a0sounds. We will\u00a0also\u00a0be\u00a0practising our digraphs and learning how to blend 4 letter words.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Writing \u2013 We will continue to use our phonics knowledge to\u00a0\u2018have a go\u2019 at writing. We will focus on constructing sentences\u00a0with\u00a0appropriate punctuation\u00a0and grammar. We will be\u00a0writing\u00a0story maps of Fairy tales, talking about\u00a0character\u00a0and setting descriptions\u00a0using adjectives,\u00a0common words\u00a0and\u00a0interesting\u00a0vocabulary.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Numeracy<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We\u00a0will\u00a0continue to learn about addition\u00a0within\u00a010, progressing\u00a0on to subtraction\u00a0within\u00a010. We will\u00a0use\u00a0concrete materials, number\u00a0lines\u00a0and our knowledge of number bonds\u00a0to help us.\u00a0We will then progress to adding and subtracting within 20.\u00a0In maths we will be learning about time. We will learn about days of the\u00a0week, months\u00a0of the year and how to tell the time\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0o\u2019clock and half past.\u00a0We will explore how to measure\u00a0length, height,\u00a0weight\u00a0and volume using non-standardised units.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Topic<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We will learn about Fairytales \u2013 different stories, characters, settings. We will learn through art, drama and dance. We will also have a focus on health and well-being ensuring that we know all about the SHANARRI indicators and how we can demonstrate them in class, school and the community. In March we will move on to focus on Spring \u2013 this will give us lots of opportunities to explore outdoors and investigate the changing season and what that means for animals and plants.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">PE<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We will have PE\u00a0on a\u00a0Monday\u00a0and a\u00a0Tuesday.
