{"id":33,"date":"2017-02-24T14:55:42","date_gmt":"2017-02-24T14:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ourladyoftherosaryprimary\/?page_id=33"},"modified":"2023-12-22T09:40:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-22T09:40:19","slug":"p4b","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ourladyoftherosaryprimary\/class-blogs\/p4b\/","title":{"rendered":"P4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 4 \u2013 Term 2 Update<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!\u00a0 Oh, yes it is!!\u00a0 I always find this term\u2019s update quite emotional as you reflect on the end of a calendar year, but are only half way through an academic year.<\/p>\n<p>The children settled quickly back into the routine after the October week holiday and were keen to focus on new learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Literacy, this term we continued using the Big Cats reading resource (Nonfiction) in weekly sessions, in conjunction with our Science based Energy Topic texts.\u00a0 It aligned neatly with our writing focus on Non-Chronological Report Writing.\u00a0 The final pieces have been uploaded to Seesaw, where you can clearly see your child\u2019s progression and next steps.\u00a0 The children have continued to develop their understanding of Literal, Inferential and Evaluative question types.\u00a0 They continue to make progress in their ability to ask and answer these question types.\u00a0 We continued to focus on developing our Comprehension Skills, Summarising Skills, Context Clues and identifying information skills.\u00a0 I was impressed with their ability to locate and highlight the necessary information I a range of texts across Curricular Areas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Numeracy we have focussed on the 4 Number Operations \u2013 Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division.\u00a0 We always begin to embed the concepts with the use of concrete materials and Pictorial methods.\u00a0 We continue to develop our understanding and application of a range of strategies to solve calculations within these operations.\u00a0 This can be seen in the think board activities which we share on Seesaw.\u00a0 Term 3 will see us apply our Number and 4 operations understanding to Fractions, Decimals, Percentages, Time and Money.<\/p>\n<p>Re and Health and Well-Being consisted of lessons on Remembrance and Lives of the Saints.\u00a0 The children were exceptionally reverent when praying for our relatives on the November Lists.\u00a0 In Jigsaw lessons we were Celebrating Difference and making sure that we don\u2019t make assumptions based on appearance, or as your Granny would say \u201cDon\u2019t judge a book by it\u2019s cover!!\u201d.\u00a0 It culminated in a series of lessons during Anti Bullying Week before we began our Advent preparations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We thoroughly enjoyed our IDL topic on Energy, which ended with our trip to Whitelee Wind Farm.\u00a0 It is a fascinating place to visit.\u00a0 The children, as always, were curious about the world around them and created magnificent questions to lead further investigation.\u00a0 We have group talks to prepare for in January and some final touches to our Digital Books before we begin our next IDL experience.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We were the first Committee to present at a Whole School Assembly.\u00a0 A role that we took very seriously!!\u00a0 We continue to work through our Action plan and our Christmas Jumper campaign was a successful start to the Preloved to ReLoved approach being undertaken within OLR.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for all your support this term.\u00a0 It is greatly appreciated.\u00a0 Rest well and enjoy your holidays together.\u00a0 I look forward to seeing you all in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs McGeehan<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 4 \u2013 Term 2 Update &nbsp; It\u2019s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!\u00a0 Oh, yes it is!!\u00a0 I always find this term\u2019s update quite emotional as you reflect on the end of a calendar year, but are only half way through an academic year.
