Another set of instructions from John to help you fix a chain on your bike.
- Lean your bike against a wall or fence or turn it upside down. If you have a friend with you, ask them to hold it.
- Make sure there is nothing caught in the chain rings (see diagram) or chain.
- Check which gear your bike is in by looking at the cog set (see diagram).
- Lift your chain into the chain rings, matching the gear in the cog set.
- Spin the back wheel to make sure it’s on properly.
- If it jumps off, try again. This means there is plenty of oil on it. Cycle slowly at first to use up the oil.
- If it feels stiff, add some chain oil.
