Here is what she said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe find ourselves in such extraordinary circumstances at the moment and I don\u2019t want parents and carers to feel that they need to recreate the classroom in their kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur children and young people can be learning in so many different ways and as part of everyday life \u2013 while the schools are closed, families should embrace active learning \u2013 while doing household chores, out on their daily walk, reading a book or watching a film\u00a0together and by using the educational programmes relaunched by the BBC this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a competition as to which mum, dad or carer can be the most imaginative teacher \u2013 concentrate on what\u2019s achievable to meet your family needs and working from home arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019ve partnered with the Glasgow Times to publish a series of features with ideas on how you can help your children learn and have some fun too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also know that our school staff are going to great lengths to arrange work remotely for their pupils \u2013 sending this either digitally or through the post to help parents and carers with lesson packs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted to see so many of our education staff and schools engaging via social media with their school communities and to keep spirits up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease don\u2019t worry \u2013 just do what you can \u2013 we are all in this together and we will come back stronger as a result.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can find the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/18338139.glasgows-top-schools-boss-says-parents-relax-coronavirus-home-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article here:<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maureen McKenna&#8217;s message on Glasgow Times In the Glasgow Times today,\u00a0Maureen McKenna posted some advice for parents.
