Pupils will learn what needs or demands our society places on ICT and how these are met in an ever changing world. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Pupils will use a variety of software to build digital solutions to tasks. This will involve the using software for designing web pages, making and editing movies, creating animations and creating interactive games using a programming environment called Scratch. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn the about the Internet, how it has developed, how it is constructed and used and the inherent pitfalls. Subjects covered include networks, software, security issues and viruses. Pupils will learn to use the software and applications and how this can apply to the working environment. Examples of where, when, why and how these applications can and are used will be examined and discussed. In today\u2019s society and working environments ICT skills are essential. Whether choosing to work or progressing to further study at college or University core ICT skills are crucial. At Lochend we continually strive to provide our pupils with the necessary skills and knowledge which will best prepare them to meet the challenges of life after school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Senior Phase <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Software Design and Development<\/li>\n<li>Information System Design and Development<\/li>\n<li>Added Value unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ttfmp-panels-item-content-panels-item_59\" class=\"ttfmp-panels-item-content\">\n<h2>Learning Experiences<\/h2>\n<p><strong>How You Will Learn:<\/strong> Pupils will learn through Active learning, independent research, practical tasks, group work and presentations to the class. This includes learning through using appropriate ICT software application to produce coursework, summarising the evidencing skills \u00a0and knowledge gained. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills You Can Develop:<\/strong> Programming and computer use and application skills will be developed and enhanced for the benefit of the pupil. They will explore the use, development &amp; application of many aspects of ICT &amp; computing systems. It is intended that this will lay the foundation of life long skills which will have a positive influence in the student\u2019s future academic &amp; working life. The knowledge &amp; skills developed within this subject can be used &amp; applied to multiple aspects of the pupils learning &amp; life. ICT skills are an essential &amp; necessary part of school &amp; home life &amp; it is here where we aim to develop the individuals knowledge &amp; understanding of the role of ICT &amp; its place in modern society; thus allowing students to work creatively, safely &amp; confidently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How You Will Be Assessed:<\/strong> Pupils are assessed at the end of each topic through written tests, group presentations, independent research tasks, continuous classroom observation &amp; critical skills tasks.
