{"id":375,"date":"2022-01-16T23:42:26","date_gmt":"2022-01-16T23:42:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kpsshealthandwellbeing\/?page_id=375"},"modified":"2025-10-10T19:49:26","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T19:49:26","slug":"multi-agency-support-team","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kpsshealthandwellbeing\/health-and-wellbeing\/multi-agency-support-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-Agency Pupil Support Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>King&#8217;s Park Secondary School has a number of key staff who play a vital role in the Health and Wellbeing of our young people.\u00a0 To ensure we &#8216;Get It Right For Every Pupil&#8217; we take a multi-agency approach.\u00a0 Below are some of the support systems we have in place at the school:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pastoral Care Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have 4 House Groups in the school and each House has a dedicated pastoral care teacher.\u00a0 The House Groups\u00a0 and teachers are:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00ff00\">Arran House &#8211; Katie McGugan\/Stacey Armour<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ffff00\">Lewis House &#8211; Fiona McTaggart<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Mull House &#8211; Anna Gibson<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Skye House &#8211; Ian Samson\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each pupil is allocated a House Group when they arrive at the school.\u00a0 The pastoral care teacher of each House is the named person responsible for overseeing each child&#8217;s school experience.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\"><strong><em>Pupil Support Department<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\">The main aim of Pupil Support is to offer proactive and co-ordinated support to pupils who are experiencing difficulties. It is hoped that this support will enable pupils to achieve their full potential.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\">\u201cGetting it Right for Every Child\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\">We aim to do this by supporting pupils, their families, teaching staff and partner agencies to provide an appropriate and flexible educational package, wherever necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\">The Pupil Support department creates a KARE environment as per our school values with pupils also encouraged to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Cultivate attitudes of tolerance<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Have respect for others<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Develop positive working relationships<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Take responsibility for their actions and accept the consequences of these<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Develop their trust, self-esteem confidence and resilience<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 500\">Set themselves high expectations and goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 500\">\u00a0Pupil Support provides curricular, behaviour and\/or one to one support to pupils. Any pupil at any time during their school life may require additional support. Pupils working within Pupil Support have a Wellbeing Assessment Plan containing strategies and targets assigned by the pupil, parent and PT of Pupil Support or Pastoral Care. These are revisited at the beginning of each term.<\/p>\n<p>The PT Pupil Support has a caseload of pupils that they work with on a one to one liaising with parents, staff and outside agencies.\u00a0 The pupils on this caseload are highlighted by Depute Head Teachers at their weekly house meetings.\u00a0 Pupils allocated to caseloads may work with the PT pupil support for a short time or be offered continuous support for their Social and emotional behaviour or additional support needs.\u00a0 Each case is revisited weekly at House meetings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-562\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/kpsshealthandwellbeing\/uploads\/sites\/9565\/2022\/03\/03160258\/Support.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"418\" height=\"121\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/kpsshealthandwellbeing\/uploads\/sites\/9565\/2022\/03\/03160258\/Support.png 418w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/kpsshealthandwellbeing\/uploads\/sites\/9565\/2022\/03\/03160258\/Support-300x87.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MCR Pathways<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MCR Pathways was founded in 2007 to address the gap in life-chances and educational outcomes, between care-experienced young people and their peers. The MCR charity was established to support young people who have experienced disadvantage and help them realise their full potential through education. In schools, English language support comes under the heading English as an Additional Language (EAL), where the support is wider to encompass support for children and young people to access the school curriculum.<\/p>\n<p>Our ESOL department operates in the best interests of the children. We aim to provide a service for all those who need it and are able to identify and meet each child\u2019s individual needs. We encourage participation and engagement with families and the wider community. In ESOL we value and celebrate diversity. It\u2019s about going the extra mile \u2013 learning new skills for work and life, getting fitter, helping others, and exploring the countryside. Millions of young people in the UK have already done their DofE and gained a widely recognised personal achievement award. Employers, Universities and Colleges all highly value the skills and experience that you gain from completing an award.<\/p>\n<p>Adventurous, caring, sporty, creative\u2026 however you might describe yourself, the DofE is for you.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone in a school year in which you turn 14 to aged 24 can take part. There are three progressive levels of programmes which lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE Award.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve your Bronze Award, you\u2019ll need to complete your own programme of activities in Volunteering, Physical, Skills sections then train for and complete a 2 day (1 night) outdoor expedition.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,Helvetica,sans-serif\">There are several pathways to completing your DofE award including S3 and S4 Masterclasses and subject choices in the senior phase.
