(500 words)<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">We will analyse 3 Jackie Kay poems. You can choose to write\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">an essay (500 words) on one of them, or you can do a talk on\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">it (4 minutes minimum)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Outcome 2 assessment :\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">A &#8216;closed-book&#8217; (no notes) Textual Analysis of a text\u00a0already studied\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">(as long as the questions are unseen, the text can be known).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Texts and assessment :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">You will be given an extract from TYT, with a set of\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">questions you need to answer.<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">You will also\u00a0be given\u00a0a Jackie Kay poem with a set of\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">questions you need to answer.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXP96453059\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXP96453059\">Reading, analysing and writing about these texts will get\u00a0<strong>Analysis &amp;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun BCX8 SCXP96453059\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun BCX8 SCXP96453059\"><strong>Evaluation<\/strong> in a Scottish Context.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Communications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">There are 4 outcomes we need to cover:<\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<ol style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li data-charcodes=\"65533,0,46\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"810\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">Demonstrate an understanding of detailed written non-fiction communication\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"false\" data-contrast=\"none\">(unseen)<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">RUAE + Purpose and Audience with detailed supporting answers.\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"65533,0,46\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"810\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Produce detailed written communication\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">minimum 500 words, written accurately and with purpose in mind.\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">A\u00a0report,\u00a0<\/span><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">persuasive essay or other non-fiction piece of writing. <\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"65533,0,46\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"810\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Understand detailed spoken communication<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Answer questions on a spoken text (speech or news broadcast)<\/span>\u200b<\/li>\n<li data-charcodes=\"65533,0,46\" data-buautonum=\"8\" data-margin=\"810\" data-aria-posinset=\"4\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">Deliver and participate in spoken communication<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">A solo talk of at least 3 minutes, and able to respond to questions.<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">If a group talk, each person needs to speak for a minimum of three minutes.\u00a0<\/span>\u200b<br \/>\n<span data-usefontface=\"true\" data-contrast=\"none\">(Evidence of assessment can be a recording, detailed notes, or a detailed checklist).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Entry Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To choose this course at Level 6, a minimum of a C pass at National 5 is advised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two Year Higher English Option &#8211; new for Session 25-26!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This session a two year Higher English is an option for S5 pupils who will have the chance to complete level 6 Literature and Communication award in S5 and sit the final Higher English exam at the end of S6.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Literature and Communication (in a Scottish context) This is a new Level 6 course.
