The NPA in Music Performing<\/span><\/span><\/a> (SCQF level 6<\/span><\/span>) <\/span><\/span>gives learners\u2019 with a high level of skill in performing, the opportunity to further enhance their skills in a live performance context. It is <\/span><\/span>an exciting course which <\/span><\/span>develops a range of transferable skills including rehearsing, presenting, self-evaluation and the ability to work independently. <\/span><\/span>This course is<\/span><\/span> only suitable for pupils who are performing on two instruments at ABRSM Grade 4 or equivalent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pupils will study the <\/span><\/span>two <\/span><\/span>mandatory unit<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span> and select <\/span><\/span>one<\/span><\/span> from the optional units.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mandatory Unit \u2013 Music: Live Performance<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span>Contribute to the preparation of a programme of music for a live performance.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 <\/span>Evaluate own performance of music at a short live event.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 <\/span>Participate in the performance of a programme of music at a longer live event and implement identified strategies for improvement.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u2022 <\/span>Perform music in contrasting styles<\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n

Optional Unit \u2013 Technical Support<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2022 <\/span>Assemble, tune, maintain and pack a drum kit.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 <\/span>Re-string, tune, maintain and store a guitar.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 <\/span>Identify and rectify faults in musical equipment leads.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u2022 <\/span>Describe the application of PAT testing.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Assessment<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The majority of assessment is practical based with written assignments and projects, where this is appropriate. Successful completion of the full award equates to 18 SCQF points.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Progression<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
