The course is an excellent stepping stone to National 5 Humanities courses in the senior phase. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">The theme next y<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">ear will be the study of the West of Scotland<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s109\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">People and Society is a flexible and inter-disciplinary course offering learners the opportunity to study themes, issues and topics of interest and relevance to them. \u00a0It develops a range of skills as well as knowledge and understanding of people and society from across subject disciplines, drawing on the social studies, health and wellbeing, and religious and moral education curriculum areas. People and Society helps learners to make connections across subject disciplines. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s109\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Pupils will experience a wide range of outdoor learning experiences and will regularly visit parks and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">museums across the city. Pupils choosing People and Society should be keen to learn citizenship skills and enjoy outdoor activities. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s109\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">National 3\/4<\/span><\/span>\u200b<\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">There are four main units contained within the course.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">People and Society has four sections:-<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Investigating Skills; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">This is an<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">inter-disciplinary unit investigating a social subject topic to develop investigation skills involving identifying sources of information, collecting information and organising information.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Comparing and Contrasting; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Interdisciplinary unit to develop the skills of comparing and contrasting again with a social subject focus. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Making Decisions; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Interdisciplinary unit which uses a social subject topic to develop decision making skills.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Added Value Unit; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Study of a topic or issue taken from the Key Ideas studied in People and Society. \u00a0Pupils will draw together their learning from the other units to complete this section.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s45\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Entry Requirements <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s45\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">There are no official entry requirements for this course. This course is appropriate for a wide range of learners.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s45\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Assessment<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s45\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Pupils must successfully complete and pass all four units to pass the course.\u00a0 There is no final examination.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s45\"><span class=\"s24\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">Progression <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">If learners study a<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">t National 3 level, they shoul<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">d continue on to an individual social <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">s<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">ubjects<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\"> course at National 4 level. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s25\"><span class=\"bumpedFont20\">A National 4 pass in People and Society can be a stepping stone to National 5 courses across the social subjects and RMPS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This course is ideally suited to pupils who may be interested in different aspects of social sciences.
