{"id":2987,"date":"2025-10-19T12:19:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T11:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kingsparksecondary\/?p=2987"},"modified":"2025-10-20T16:04:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T15:04:34","slug":"2987","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kingsparksecondary\/2025\/10\/19\/2987\/","title":{"rendered":"Pupils Attend Hackathon in Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2999\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/kingsparksecondary\/uploads\/sites\/11894\/2025\/10\/19122515\/NTG-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>During the October holidays, three of our pupils, <strong>Iqra Sarwar(S6)<\/strong>, <strong>Mirren McDonald(S6)<\/strong> and <strong>Rita McVey(S6)<\/strong>, took the initiative to attend an exciting <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nexttechgirls.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Next Tech Girls<\/a> x <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mo.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Motability Operations<\/a> Hackathon<\/strong> held at Motability Operations\u2019 Edinburgh office.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together <strong>19 young women aged 16\u201325<\/strong> from across Scotland to take on real-world business challenges and develop creative, tech-based solutions. Participants collaborated in teams, exploring problem-solving, coding, and presenting their ideas \u2014 all while gaining valuable insight into careers in technology.<\/p>\n<p>One of our pupils, <strong>Mirren McDonald<\/strong>, shared her experience:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><cite>\u201cIt was honestly one of the best work experiences I\u2019ve attended yet because it gave us all an insight into real-life problems and let us propose solutions to them. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking of attending one in the future!\u201d<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Hackathon provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to build confidence, teamwork, and digital skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.
