An introduction to mental health and first aid will be included. You will investigate professional standards and accountability in effective care practice and gain academic skills that will prepare you for future university study.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, by completing this course there is the possibility of progressing to Glasgow Caledonian University adult or learning disability BSc Nursing studies degrees.\u00a0 However, you must have the entry requirements of two Highers at a B Grade (one Higher must be an essay\/written subject) and you must also pass this Introduction to Nursing Programme and be highly recommended by the college.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendance Pattern<\/strong><br \/>\nYou will attend college on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 13:30 \u2013 16:00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pupil Eligibility<\/strong><br \/>\nYou must have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>National 5 Maths or Application of Maths.\u00a0 You must also be sitting at least two highers or have achieved two highers that meet the Glasgow Caledonian Pathway requirements (two Highers at a B Grade -one Higher must be an essay\/written subject).<\/li>\n<li>S5 or S6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualification Breakdown<\/strong><br \/>\nSQA Units at SCQF Level 5 and 6 \u2013 this is not a full group award.<\/p>\n<p>Introduction to Nursing SCQF Level 5\/6. Units you will study are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic Writing\u00a0 for Health Care<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to Mental Health<\/li>\n<li>Foundations of Care Practice<\/li>\n<li>First Aid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What opportunities will be available to me when I finish?<\/strong><br \/>\nOn successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to be treated as an internal applicant or progress to Glasgow Caledonian University directly.\u00a0 This will also be dependent on your attendance and commitment to this course.<\/p>\n<p>To progress to Glasgow Caledonian University adult or learning disability BSc Nursing studies degrees, you must have the entry requirements of two Highers at a B Grade (one Higher must be an essay\/written subject).\u00a0 You must also pass this Introduction to Nursing Programme and be highly recommended by the college.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not qualify for the Glasgow Caledonian progression, you might go on to do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>National Certificate Level 6 Health Care (Pre-Nursing course with clinical placement on average one day per week).<\/li>\n<li>Higher National Certificate Healthcare Practice (Equivalent to First Year Nursing).
