{"id":90,"date":"2024-11-29T15:02:20","date_gmt":"2024-11-29T15:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kingsparksecondary\/?page_id=90"},"modified":"2024-12-09T14:48:02","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T14:48:02","slug":"free-school-meals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/kingsparksecondary\/support\/free-school-meals\/","title":{"rendered":"Free School Meals \/ Clothing Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Free School Meals \/ Clothing Grants<\/h1>\n<p><strong>Free School Meals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may be eligible for Free School Meals if you have a child that attends a Glasgow school, and you receive any of the following benefits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Universal Credit (UC), and your monthly take home pay is\u00a0<strong>\u00a3726<\/strong>\u00a0or less.<\/li>\n<li>Income Support\/Income based Job Seeker&#8217;s Allowance (JSA) or any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)<\/li>\n<li>Child Tax Credit (CTC), but not Working Tax Credit, with an annual income of less than\u00a0<strong>\u00a318,725<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Both Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit with an annual income of less than\u00a0<strong>\u00a38,717<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Asylum Seeker receiving support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Clothing Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Families on low incomes may be eligible to receive a School Clothing Grant award of \u00a3120 for a Primary-aged child or \u00a3150 for a Secondary-aged child. The award is given annually to assist with the cost of purchasing essential school clothing for families who are on a qualifying benefit.<\/p>\n<p>You may be eligible for a Clothing Grant if you have a child that attends a Glasgow school, and you receive any of the following benefits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Housing Benefit \/ Council Tax Reduction (this is not Council Tax single person&#8217;s discount or student discount)<\/li>\n<li>Universal Credit (UC), and your monthly take home pay is\u00a0<strong>\u00a3726<\/strong>or less.<\/li>\n<li>Income Support\/Income based Job Seeker&#8217;s Allowance (JSA) or any income related element of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)<\/li>\n<li>Child Tax Credit (CTC), but not Working Tax Credit, with an annual income of less than\u00a0<strong>\u00a318,725<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Both Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit with an annual income of less than\u00a0<strong>\u00a318,725<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Asylum Seeker receiving support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applying for Free School Meals and Clothing Grants<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>**Ensure you know your login details to your mygovscot account prior to starting your application**<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t have an account, you can make one here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/signin.mygovscot.org\/home\/\">mygovscot myaccount | The easy way to access Scottish public services online.<\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Search for \u2018Glasgow Free School Meals\u2019 on Google and click the first hit, or follow this link directly to the FSM home page: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgow.gov.uk\/schoolsandlearning\">Clothing Grants\/Free School Meals &#8211; Glasgow City Council<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select \u2018Apply online\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Log in with your mygovscot.org login details.<\/li>\n<li>You may be asked for consent to share your data with Glasgow City Council. Select \u2018Yes\u2019. This may mean that you need to return to the Free School Meals homepage and log in again.<\/li>\n<li>The next page will show you eligibility criteria and income thresholds for Free School Meals and Clothing Grants. <strong>Please ensure you meet these criteria before continuing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Proceed through the form answering all questions correctly. If you use translation software on your device, <strong>turn this off before filling in the form<\/strong> as it will translate your address and cause errors in the form.<\/li>\n<li>Be ready to provide your National Insurance number. If you are an asylum seeker and do not have a National Insurance number, write \u2018asylum seeker\u2019 in the box where your NI number is requested.<\/li>\n<li>Select your eligibility from the list and check the appropriate box<\/li>\n<li>Enter your child\u2019s\/children\u2019s details<\/li>\n<li>On the final page, upload photographs or screenshots of your supporting document \u2013 for example, a statement from your most recent Universal Credit payment, including any and all deductions, or a statement from any other benefit which qualifies you for Free School Meals and matches the option you have chosen on the previous page.
