S4 Course Choice<\/h1>\n

S4 Option Choice Structure<\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • English or ESOL and Maths are mandatory.<\/li>\n
  • 4 periods a week in English\/ESOL and Maths.<\/li>\n
  • 5 periods a week per subject in Columns B to E.<\/li>\n
  • S4 to S6 can all be in the same class in Columns B to E \u2013 focus is on pupils being at the right level\/stage as opposed to the same year group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Can I study a subject in S4 if I haven\u2019t chosen it in S3?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    It is always best to continue with subjects you experienced in S3 as you will have a greater depth of knowledge. Following discussion with your Pupil Support Teacher\/Depute Head Teacher you may be able to select a subject in S4 if you did not take it in S3, and this would be looked at on an individual basis.<\/i><\/p>\n

    Courses limited to Level 5 \/ National 5<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    It is worth noting that some courses\u00a0only<\/b>\u00a0progress up to National 5 or Level 5. This could impact on future choices in the following year. These subjects are:<\/p>\n

    • Cyber Security<\/li>\n
    • Digital Media<\/li>\n
    • Early Learning and Childcare<\/li>\n
    • Health Sector<\/li>\n
    • Practical Cookery<\/li>\n
    • Practical Electronics<\/li>\n
    • Travel and Tourism<\/li>\n
    • Practical Woodworking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Compulsory Health & Well-Being Subjects<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 for ALL S4-S6 pupils<\/h3>\n

      • Physical Education (2 periods per week)<\/li>\n
      • Personal and Social Education (1 period per week)<\/li>\n
      • Religious and Moral Education (1 period per week)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        S4 Personal Development Options<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        The purpose of the Personal Development class is to give pupils opportunities to develop skills in different contexts \u2013 1 period per week.<\/p>\n

        Options could include:<\/p>\n

        • CSLA Sports Leadership<\/li>\n
        • Duke of Edinburgh<\/li>\n
        • Dance Leaders<\/li>\n
