Department Aims

The Social Subject department is a popular and successful department dedicated to encouraging learners to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. This is done through studying people’s relationships through time, place and society. The skills gained during their time with us will enhance their ability to navigate the world and can be adapted to all aspects of their social and working lives.

CURRICULUM

S1-3 learners follow the Broad General Education curriculum introducing them to key knowledge, concepts and skills all of which will benefit them as they progress into S4-6

In S4-6 learners may choose further study in History and Modern Studies which leads to National 4/5 qualifications. Moving into S5/6 learners may choose to continue into Higher History and Modern Studies or National 4/5 Scottish Studies. S6 learners also have the choice of opting for Higher Politics. Many enjoy working across multiple Social Subjects.
