Picture2 copy In this question, the term average can be confusing. We call it an average rate because the rate is changing as the reaction proceeds, as shown by the curve of the line ( A constant rate would produce a straight line).

To find the average rate in the first 10s -20s of the reaction find the change in quantity and divide that by the time taken.
