Remembrance Sunday

November is the month of remembrance where we remember and recognise the people who have died in our lives.

This week, we looked at the significance of Remembrance Sunday  and why people wear poppies.

We watched a youtube video from Poppy Scotland Learning about The Great War and how the Poppy first became a symbol of Remembrance.

Many children in our class had stories of giving money to the volunteers or knowing someone who had worn a poppy. Some of them had even worn a poppy themselves!

To remember the people who have fought to keep us safe, we created our own poppy tribute using different medias including crayon, collage and finger-painting.

Here are some of us creating our poppies:

To finish, we cut them out and Miss Ely painted the middle black before putting them up on our door to show all of Holy Cross!  Don’t they look beautiful?
