Dear Parents/Carers

This is a quick note to give you some information about the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) that will be completed by our teachers for all of our Primary 3 and Primary 6 children. If your child is in this stage you will be receiving a letter with further details.

The SDQ looks at children’s feelings, behaviour and how well they get on with adults and other children. This questionnaire is used widely across Scotland and the UK , and this will be Glasgow City Councils’s 5th year using it. The information gathered will help teachers to understand individual children better and generally improve services delivered to children in Glasgow.

The University of Glasgow will study the results and publish reports to help service development. It will not be possible to identify your child or their school in these reports and all information will be held securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
