We work closely with the Pupil Support Team and EAL teacher to ensure pupils are supported efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>Our vision is to prepare young people with additional support needs for life through the provision and support of a framework that recognises continuity and progression from Primary School, actively involves parents and carers in the learning process and offers support while ensuring that all pupils are treated fairly and included in learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The role of the Department includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Planning and teaching small groups<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Teaching cooperatively with subject teachers which allows opportunities for more<\/p>\n<p>individual attention and support.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Individualised routines and schedules where appropriate<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Nurturing and supportive relationships<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Evidencing and providing Alternative Assessment Arrangements (AAA) and liaising with the SQA.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Arranging specialist support including the Educational Psychologists Service, Speech &amp;<\/p>\n<p>Language Therapists; Glasgow Dyslexia Support Service; Hearing and Visual<\/p>\n<p>Impairment and Occupational Therapists.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Organising and Chairing Staged Intervention and Inclusion Meetings (SIIMs)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Participating in Joint Support Meetings<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Assess, record and report on pupils work as appropriate<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Contributing to curricular staff development<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Department Aim<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At one time or another all of us have difficulty acquiring certain skills. The aim of ASL Department at Hillpark is to help individual pupils overcome any particular difficulty they may be having.<\/p>\n<p>We work with all teachers to strive to:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ensure that the individual is at the centre of policy and practice.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Promote early identification of individual learners who are experiencing barriers<\/p>\n<p>to their learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Promote an inclusive approach that will meet the needs of\u202fall\u202fpupils.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Work with colleagues to eliminate barriers to pupils&#8217; learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Track and monitor progress closely.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ensure continuity of experience at points of transition through appropriate<\/p>\n<p>support.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Encourage parent\/carer support for their young person&#8217;s learning.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Nurture positive, supportive relationships with staff, pupils and parents\/carers<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Recognise and celebrate individual achievements within a range of contexts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ASL Department works cooperatively across all subject areas and levels.
