Each year in Hillhead High School, a nurture group runs for a number of S1 pupils.<\/p>\n

Nurture is a tried and tested way of relating to children that helps them develop vital social skills, confidence and self-esteem, and become ready to learn. A nurture group is a school-based intervention run by two members of staff with up to six pupils.\u00a0 The aim is develop positive pupil relationships with both teachers\/staff and peers in a supportive environment.<\/p>\n

When our nurture pupils move into S2, they begin to receive a check-in<\/a> with a member of the SfL staff.<\/p>\n

From session\u00a02026-27\u00a0<\/strong>we have renamed the Nurture Group as <\/span>The Oakfield Group. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We hope that a more neutral name will help pupils feel proud to be part of the group and reduce any stigma that can sometimes be associated with targeted support.<\/span><\/p>\n
