The S3 Physical Education Studies Course is performance based and learners will either be timetabled for two single periods or one double period, alongside their double period of compulsory Core Physical Education. All activities will be negotiated between the member of teaching staff and learners, in connection with the area allocated on the timetable. A minimum of three activities will be explored during the course and this will enable learners to experience an appropriate balance of breadth and depth of learning. When classes are timetabled one period in the fitness suite and one period in the gameshall / gym lessons will have a clear link to the development of performance in the activity for that block. The content delivered should is planned in line with the 3rd and 4th Level Experiences and Outcomes and Significant Aspects of Learning. Examples range from classes exploring the importance of communication in team activities to the negative impact an audience can have on a performer.
