S3- Social Media- Fake News Project

We are delighted to be working with the University of Glasgow to create and design a project on helping young people to spot fake news, photoshopped images, etc.

This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils and will look fantastic on future university, college or employment applications.

Fake news reaches more people and spreads more quickly than the truth and is believed around 75% of the time.  Are you interested in working with academics and Instagram influencers to create a programme to teach young people about fake news? If so, please consider joining our team. We will ask you to come along to some meetings to discuss what topics you think should be covered in the programme (e.g. fake news, spotting photoshop, deepfakes) and helping us design some activities to explore the topics.  We will then package up the programme and it will be delivered in your school and other schools across the UK.  You will develop skills like teamwork and research and have the opportunity to shape a national level project

We are looking for a group of S3 pupils to be involved in this project. If you are interested please contact Mr Richardson on gw12richardsonjack@glow.sch.uk

Young Carer Grant

The Young Carer Grant is a £305.10 payment available on an annual basis for 16, 17 and 18 year olds who spend an average of 16 hours a week caring for someone who receives a disability benefit.

Young people who have already had a payment are able to apply again once a year has passed since they received their money. We are encouraging young carers to check if they are entitled to further awards, and apply again if they still meet the criteria.

You can check the links below to check eligibility criteria and for more information on applying.
