Hazelwood School aims to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all pupils with a particular emphasis on developing <\/span>life skills<\/span> and<\/span> promoting independence. As most <\/span>of our <\/span>pupils have a visual impairment, with some also having a hearing impairment,<\/span> as well as additional learning difficulties, our curriculum is multi- sensory and differentiated to meet the individual needs of pupils. Educational programmes are devised in collaboration with other specialists including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, <\/span>o<\/span>ccupational therapists, educationa<\/span>l psychologists and school <\/span>children\u2019s community nurse, ASL schools<\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Curriculum for Excellence has been introduced to raise standards of learning and teaching for all 3 to 18 year olds. It aims to help prepare children and young people with the knowledge and skills they need in a fast changing world. As part of Curriculum for Excellence all children from pre-school to the end of S3 will receive a rounded education known as a Broad General <\/span>Education (<\/span>BGE). Curriculum for Excellence <\/span>highlights the importance <\/span>of bringing<\/span> real life into the classroom and taking lessons beyond it. <\/span><\/p>\n

Through the experiences we provide at <\/span>Hazelwood School<\/span> we want our children to become <\/span>Successful Learners, Confident Individuals<\/span>, <\/span>Responsible Citizens <\/span>and <\/span>Effective Contributors<\/span>. We are committed to providing children with a broad general education and focus on eight curriculum areas.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/colgroup>\n\n\n\n
