{"id":122,"date":"2015-09-13T12:02:34","date_gmt":"2015-09-13T11:02:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/hazelwoodschool\/?page_id=122"},"modified":"2018-02-28T14:19:24","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T14:19:24","slug":"parent-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/hazelwoodschool\/parents\/parent-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Parent Council is a group of parents selected by members of the parent forum (the collective name for every parent, carer or guardian at a school) to represent all the parents of children at the school.<\/p>\n<p>Parent Councils have an important role to play in ensuring that children&#8217;s education is enriched by parents&#8217; valuable life experience, individual personal skills and unique knowledge of their own child.<\/p>\n<p>Parent Councils can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide a voice for parents, in schools and in their local authority, on issues that are important to them and their children<\/li>\n<li>help the school to understand how to most effectively involve parents in their children&#8217;s learning and in the life of the school<\/li>\n<li>support the school and headteacher in developing strong home\/school partnerships<\/li>\n<li>support the school in its development and improvement, and in understanding and making links with the wider community<\/li>\n<li>capture the unique and varied skills, interests, knowledge and experience that parents can offer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Parent Council is a group of parents selected by members of the parent forum (the collective name for every parent, carer or guardian at a school) to represent all the parents of children at the school.
