Primary 5/4 November Update

P5/4 have had a busy few weeks!

In Literacy we are continuing our focus on our descriptive writing, we have used a variety of tools to help us including word mats, the description bubble and senses graphic organisers to create a variety of setting descriptions.  This is helping us use our senses, ambitious vocabulary and a variety of sentence structures in our writing.

In Numeracy we are working on numeracy agility and trying our best to be super fast human calculators.  We play lots of games, challenges and races to have fun with this and keep us motivated.  We can then use these skills when doing column addition, which is our main Numeracy focus at the moment.

In Maths we are working on shape and have recently moved on to creating tiling patterns and tessellations to create a range of patterns and pictures.

Ms Wilson is still with us until next week and we have really enjoyed working with her.  We have explored a variety of different Myths and Legends around our Scotland topic and been having lots of fun with her.

We have also been lucky enough to have Miss Manar and Miss Kinda working with us on lots of exciting STEM activities.  So far we have a made a ramp to test the friction of a range of materials, made an erupting volcano, made boats to test buoyancy and even made a model of a human heart to help us understand how blood is pumped through the body.  We are thoroughly enjoying each project.
