Primary 3/4 November Update

It has been a busy and fun November, with lots of fun activities. We loved taking part in the Mini Mudder and learning about the history of Guy Fawkes and Bonfire night. We also enjoyed finding out about the life of Mairi Chisholm, a Scottish nurse who made a significant contribution to improving the lives of the soldiers during World War 1.

In Literacy we have been focussing on Non-Fiction texts, learning how to answer different types of questions. We have practiced our reading skills, looked for information in a text and learned how to look for key words and summarise the main points. This term we have really worked hard on learning our Common Word spellings and also improving our handwriting skills.

We have set up a shop in the classroom to learn about money and practice finding totals by adding coins and counting on, and also giving change using subtraction skills.

In topic work we have been learning about the Human Body, the Skeleton and major organs and their function. We will be working on writing an explanation text to explain what happens to our food when we eat.

P3/4 are really enjoying working with other classes to develop their leadership and communication skills-I think the P2/1’s have loved learning lots of new games when we worked collaboratively during P.E sessions-keep up the great work!

Big thanks go to Annie-our “Determined To Dance” coach who worked with us every week to get our routine spot on.

The month of December is going to be just as busy and we look forward to sharing the fun learning with you.
