Music is like speech &#8211; leave gaps. This will create phrases.<\/p>\n<p>2. Know the melody of the tune you are playing.<\/p>\n<p>3. If you need inspiration creating a rhythm, think of\u00a0a few\u00a0words and use the rhythm implied by saying those words &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>4. Create a &#8220;shape&#8221; for your solo &#8211; start off with simpler ideas and &#8216;build&#8217; the solo by creating tension &#8230; eg. faster or more complicated rhythms and\/or higher pitches\u00a0 and\/or more &#8216;outside&#8217; (weirder) sounding note choices.<\/p>\n<p>5. There are no <em>wrong<\/em> notes &#8211; learn to make the weirder sounding notes sound like you mean it!
