To get started with improvisation, it is actually much less tricky than you might imagine. The ability to listen, to know two or three notes and an imagination to\u00a0build\u00a0rhythms is all you need.<\/li>\n<li>Improvisation is hugely complex.\u00a0 We, as musicians,\u00a0will never get to the stage where we know everything about improvisation.\u00a0As\u00a0we develop our listening skills\u00a0we incorporate more ideas into\u00a0our playing. This makes it more interesting and fun to play.<\/li>\n<li>Any audience will consist of listeners with a variety of exposure to improvisation. People who have listened to a lot of improvised music will prefer more complex lines. The good news for beginners\u00a0is that members of the audience with less well developed listening skills\u00a0may well\u00a0actually prefer simpler solos to ones played by much more accomplished players!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Improvisation is an amazing activity and is a whole lot of fun.
