Play Along Maths was developed in 1994 by a Senior Teacher and Home Link Worker in Airdrie. Glasgow City Council obtained the resources from its founders in 2019 to ensure its development and longevity, and have been working with Education Colleagues since October 2022 to refresh and relaunch the programme.
During the 23-24 school session we delivered training to staff from 67 Early Years establishments and 82 Primary schools, and are thrilled to hear about families benefitting from taking part. For details of further CPD for Glasgow Education staff click here.

Play Along Maths Programme Descriptor
It’s a 6-8 week family learning programme for Pre 5 up to P3 which supports the development of maths and mathematical language through playing games and having fun as a family. The family choose a game to take home on a weekly basis and use a ‘Chat Along Card’ to emphasise maths concepts as they play. This is a sample card and game for Pre Five families:
