Former Glasgow Schools\u2019 Big Band musician Alice Faye<\/strong> has been named The Sound of Young Scotland 2025<\/strong> at The Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award ceremony in Dundee\u2019s Caird Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chosen from a strong shortlist of five emerging artists, Alice receives a funding package worth up to \u00a310,000<\/strong> to support the recording and release of her debut album<\/strong>. The award is supported by Help Musicians<\/strong>, the Scottish Government\u2019s Youth Music Initiative through Creative Scotland<\/strong> and Youth Music<\/strong>, and exists to help young Scottish artists take the next big step in their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A former member of Glasgow Schools\u2019 Big Band<\/strong>, Alice has gone on to build a growing profile as a singer-songwriter and vocalist<\/strong>, with a distinctive \u201cretro-pop \/ pop-opera\u201d sound and a string of high-profile live performances and radio play. On receiving the award, she told the audience how much the Scottish music scene means to her, adding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love making music, and I love Scotland so much, and I love the Scottish music scene\u2026 I\u2019m a lot happier now! I really didn\u2019t think I\u2019d get it so thank you thank you so much!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Through this award, Alice will gain studio support, business advice, peer mentoring and up to 250 vinyl pressings<\/strong> of her debut album, as well as a performance slot at the 2026 SAY Award Ceremony<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone at Glasgow CREATE<\/strong> and Glasgow Schools\u2019 Big Band<\/strong> is incredibly proud of Alice and delighted to see her talent recognised on a national stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
