Craig captivated the adjudicators with his remarkable technique, expressive performance, and musicianship, securing his place in the&nbsp;<strong>Scottish Young Musicians National Final<\/strong>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<strong>Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on Sunday 25 May<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Rising Star: Craig McGroarty \ud83c\udfbc<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">Craig is currently in his final year at&nbsp;<strong>Knightswood Secondary School<\/strong>, studying&nbsp;<strong>Advanced Higher Music<\/strong>&nbsp;under the guidance of&nbsp;<strong>Nicola Leslie<\/strong>. His dedication and hard work have led to an exceptional year of musical success. He recently&nbsp;<strong>achieved Grade 8 clarinet<\/strong>&nbsp;and has been accepted into the prestigious&nbsp;<strong>BMus programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland<\/strong>, where he will continue his clarinet studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">Craig\u2019s achievements extend beyond Scottish Young Musicians\u2014he is also a&nbsp;<strong>finalist in the RCS Clarinet Competition<\/strong>, having won through their preliminary rounds, and will compete at the&nbsp;<strong>RCS Clarinet Festival on Sunday 16 February<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">A passionate and versatile musician, Craig is actively involved in many\u00a0<strong>Glasgow<\/strong> <strong>CREATE ensembles<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb5&nbsp;<strong>Symphonic Wind Band<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb5&nbsp;<strong>Clarinet Choir<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb5&nbsp;<strong>Saxophone Ensemble<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb5&nbsp;<strong>Big Band<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb5&nbsp;<strong>Glasgow Schools\u2019 Symphony Orchestra<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">Beyond Glasgow, Craig has successfully auditioned for some of Scotland\u2019s top youth orchestras, earning places in the&nbsp;<strong>West of Scotland Schools Orchestra, Edinburgh Youth Orchestra, and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland Development Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Celebrating Glasgow\u2019s Young Musical Talent<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">Alongside Craig, three other exceptional musicians were recognised for their outstanding performances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfa4&nbsp;<strong>Struan Young<\/strong>&nbsp;(<strong>Smithycroft Secondary School<\/strong>) \u2013 Winner of the&nbsp;<strong>Vocalist Category<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Overall Runner-Up<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb8&nbsp;<strong>Ruslan Pankov<\/strong>&nbsp;(<strong>King\u2019s Park Secondary School<\/strong>) \u2013&nbsp;<strong>Overall Runner-Up<\/strong>&nbsp;for his impressive guitar performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">\ud83c\udfb7&nbsp;<strong>Ben Winner<\/strong>&nbsp;title and&nbsp;<strong>Overall Runner-Up<\/strong>. Equally impressive was Ruslan, whose skilful and expressive guitar playing also secured him a&nbsp;<strong>Runner-Up<\/strong>&nbsp;position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">At the&nbsp;<strong>Junior level<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Ben Streete<\/strong>&nbsp;shone with his brilliant saxophone performance of&nbsp;<strong>Gerry Rafferty\u2019s \u201cBaker Street\u201d<\/strong>, earning him the title of&nbsp;<strong>Glasgow\u2019s Junior Solo Performer of the Year<\/strong>. Ben\u2019s performance was full of confidence, flair, and musical maturity beyond his years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Competition Showcasing Dedication and Passion<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-poppins-font-family\">This year\u2019s competition saw an incredible standard of musicianship, with young performers from across Glasgow delivering inspiring performances.
