The programme includes rehearsals, concerts and a residential course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Who it\u2019s for<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">GSSO is for young orchestral players from across Glasgow\u2019s schools who are ready for advanced ensemble work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">As part of the audition process, applicants are asked to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-default has-montserrat-font-family\">\n<li>perform a short solo piece at approximately Grade 4 level or above<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>play a scale of their choice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>complete a short sight-reading exercise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>What happens<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">seven Sunday rehearsals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">five concerts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">a residential course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">Young people develop advanced orchestral skills, rehearse challenging repertoire and perform as part of one of the city\u2019s flagship music ensembles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong>Where and when<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\"><strong>Auditions:<\/strong>&nbsp;City Halls, during the week beginning Monday 5 October 2026. Families are informed of audition times by email after their application is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\"><strong>Main programme:<\/strong>&nbsp;rehearsals and concerts take place across November and December 2026, February and March 2027, and June 2029. The residential runs from Monday 14 June to Friday 18 June 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How progression works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-montserrat-font-family\">GSSO is the advanced stage of several city music pathways. Places are limited and offered through audition.
