They offer the chance to rehearse, perform and grow in confidence as part of a musical community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The string pathway includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intermezzo Strings (must have been playing for one year &amp; Grade 1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>String Orchestra (Grade 2 &#8211; 3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>String Sinfonia (Grade 4 &#8211; 5)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>String Ensemble (Grade 5+)\u00a0<em>teacher recommendation only<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These groups form part of the wider progression route towards Glasgow Schools\u2019 Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who it\u2019s for<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our string groups are for young people who play:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>violin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>viola<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cello<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>double bass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The pathway is open to string players from beginner level and above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What happens<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Pupils rehearse regularly as part of a string ensemble or orchestra. Through this, they can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>develop confidence in playing with others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>build ensemble and listening skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>improve their musical understanding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>prepare for performances and concerts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each group offers a supportive next step in developing as a young string player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where and when<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Venue:<\/strong>&nbsp;City Halls, 87 to 101 Albion Street, Glasgow, G1 1LH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rehearsal and concert dates:<\/strong>&nbsp;Saturdays &#8211; please see the calendar for dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How progression works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Progression through the string groups is not automatic. Each ensemble requires pupils to develop musical and ensemble skills.
